Behavioral health spared from 2026 Medicare efficiency cut

CMS finalized the 2026 fee schedule with conversion factors above the 2025 rate. Psychotherapy codes are shielded from the new 2.5 percent efficiency cut to work RVUs, according to the September 16 analysis (https://insights.wchsb.com/2026/09/16/your-2026-medicare-revenue-may-depend-more-on-where-you-practice-than-what-you-bill/). A reshuffle of indirect practice expense between facility and non-facility settings means pay per code can still shift by site of service.
